Well Check the ports that you have open, the list of the ports you need open can be found in the firewall topic at the top of the page, and if that doesn't work then go ahead and try hamachi it works every time.

So when you're in a match online it shows your username, player numbers, and color in the upper right corner. on the right side of your name/nation is a number that changes as the game goes on and as your civ progresses. We were wonder what that number is exactly and what it represents. Thanks...

Okay so i found the solution: If all else fails, move your directory directly into the C drive, not under any sub folders. That fixed the font error. AFTER THAT though I got an draw-buffer error, which I fixed by using this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
