I don't know about those other problems, but I downloaded directly from the Civ IV website after 2 failed attempts downloading through the original game. So far the install is going smoothly. I'm crossing my fingers!

Ditto. I think it is nearly perfect the way it is now. When I conquer a city, the culture is next to nothing. Then when the citizens have been beaten down, the culture expands. Of course it can't be ALL of the new Civ's culture because the people were just residents of another country!
