    Help the ******** Man-Child!

Gracias para todos senor. I was expecting everyone to just laugh at me, but, praise be to our pagan gods, there do seem to be good folks out there. No milk and cookies I see, but that;s probably all for the best as you are a) not my mother, and b) I smell funny.

    Help the ******** Man-Child!

I imagine that alot of you will just crap yourselves laughing at this, but I have no idea where to find the map editor. In Civ 3, there was a nice, simple Map Editor on my desktop that I could just easily wander into and start editing maps. I've installed Civ 4 and its running great, the only...

A topic about why all the anti communism in USA and stuff...

A-ight mayteys, Izza throw in my two cents... 1. CHINA IS POOR Debate- a)undisputable - Chinas economy is growing quickly b)undisputable - Chinas recent economic growth has been largely due to capitalist reforms c) undisputable - Chinas wealth is vastly disproportionate between its...

    Yet another civ list thread

Yes, I happen to like the "which civs" should be in? Thread, because it sometimes generates interesting discussions. Anyway, in the spirit of the "65" civs thread, I've tried to come up with a list of civs that would include all the major cultural areas, have no head-slapping "why are they in...

Mao and other despicable leaders in Civ 4

A good point, but I think I should just draw attenion to the fact that Mexico was already a densely populated area when the Spanish arrived. Most of Northern America, and Australia were much more sparsely populated. I don't think the Brits or the Spaniards were "worse", at the time they were...

Mao and other despicable leaders in Civ 4

I agree that Mao is a bad idea, especially for the fact that he's held China back more than anything. Again, the nationalists in Taiwan accomplished a hell of alot more. Also, when Mao was in power, 1949-1976 it was just one goddam disaster after another, Great Leap Forward (to starvation!)...

    Let's name the shrines!

Oh, there's tons of sites for Hinduism, vato. One suggestion would be Varanasi, a holy city on the Ganges where people can escape the cycle of birth and death if they die there. There is also four sites in Uttar Pradesh, collectively referred to as the "Char Dam", where some of Indias sacred...

    Western comes from Greek ?

I think "Western" civilization has to be understood as not only a combination of a: Greaco-Roman heritage and b: Judeo-Christian heritage, but also c:Temperate European heritage. The Slavs, Celts, Germainics, etc etc, form a major portion of the "Western" world today. I think the influence from...

How many races in the world?

I don't think "race" is a useful concept for discussing much of anything to be quite frank. Its pretty much become a useless term. One CAN talk about "ethnicity", ie a combination of cultural traits and self-identity, one can also talk about a linguistic heritage, and you can also look at people...

Way to go, Firaxis! 18 great civs!!!

Oh. Okay, well you got me there, I guess there goes the professional historian career. I was just whipped up into an incredulous frenzy about suggesting India be left out, I mean...it's India for gods sake. You could probably make a good arguement that they've been the most important civ in...

    Expansion pack civs...

...because we desprately NEED ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT WHICH CIVS TO INCLUDE! hahahhahahahahahahaaahahahaahahajhkdsha! Anyway, considering that it looks like the number of civs for the vanilla game will be a disapointing (to me) 18, I just thought, well what civs should be included in the expansion...

Way to go, Firaxis! 18 great civs!!!

INDIA!!!!!!! Oh, cm'on man! Indias been like a fifth of the world population for its entire history, it created two major world religions, has been (and will again be?) an economic superpower, and not to mention their mathamaticians were the ones who invented "0" so we COULDN'T EVEN HAVE...

    Civ 4 Civilizations

Inca ahead of Babylon? Or at least SOMEONE to represent Mesopotamian civ? (Assyrians and Sumerians would also be good, but all threes probably uneccessary), unquestionably. But still, Andean civilization did develop without the help of any outside power, as an utterly unique civ it deserves to...

    the 7 religons:S

Daoism is basically a name given to a wide mix of Chinese religious practice and philosophy. Taosim as a philosophical school began during the era of the warring states (500-20BCis? Can't remember exactly), and it developed alongside, amd in some senses was a reaction against confucionism. The...

    Why only 18 civs?

I'm just wondering why there's so few civs in the new one, besides the obvious, "more money from expansion packs" reasons. Does it really require alot of memory to create a civ and put it in the game? (Sorry, I don't know the first damn thing about computers except that its where I play Civ)...
