    1UPT - final verdict?

Nice, will look into the mod. Of course, the key problem weren't the choppers themselves as much as the inability of the AI across all Civ games to handle a concentrated assault that a human can come up with, particularly if the player is also outproducing the AI at the same time. The details...

Improving tiles, bad AI behavior inherited from Civ5

The AI seems to be very chaotic. In Civ IV I can see it doing little else than connecting strategic resources, roads and a few basic improvements... but sometimes I can also see it throwing down cottages everywhere and using up most of its tiles. Regardless, it doesn't play a very efficient...

    1UPT - final verdict?

I had to look up what chop and drop is, and the amusing thing is that its the strategy I eventually evolved against the AI on my own. Lol. Except I usually used mass needlejets + ground troops instead of drop troops. I wonder why they didn't balance that out, it seems like an easy thing to fix.

    1UPT - final verdict?

By the time those come into play most games are already decided. Which, to be honest, is something all Civ games suffer from, including SMAC. Its a pity too, since only then do some interesting tactical possibilities open up.

    1UPT - final verdict?

You're not describing anything that doesn't happen in any previous Civ game. You make it seem like city takeovers require a grand strategy, in reality they boil down to surrounding the city with units and bashing it in in a turn. You can even easily calculate the numbers of units you need due...

The main problem of this game is...

The game doesn't have a single large problem, its simply mediocre as a whole, neither terrible nor great. Possibly it could be patched to be "good" but its never going to be a great, or particularly significant strategy game.

So why did you buy this game?

Development studios routinely ignore beta tester reports and advice due to time constraints or simply letting things slide (but don't tell them that), which they find out in the release version when they see the same thing they reported still in the game.

    1UPT - final verdict?

I do too. People are too hung up on logic or emulating history in some way or other. You could do a ton of ridiculous things in AC but it was fun to do them, and the AI could on occasion even react to what you were doing (switching to anti air troops if you kept pummeling him with needlejets...

    1UPT - final verdict?

1UPT hard? Sure, in a large wargame with a lot of space to manouver and a ton of different units. In Civ V? You can win entire wars without losing a single unit due to AI stupidity. That's the part that people find fun. The 80% of people who bought the game and never played beyond default...

    1UPT - final verdict?

That's false. The AI will attack if their military power outstrips your own and some leaders will attack even with good diplomatic relations. I just had Ragnar declare war on me at "pleased" with a ton of + modifiers. In other scenarios they will try to bully you, driving the diplomatic...

    1UPT - final verdict?

The AI wasn't great but you couldn't cheese an invading army with 3 archers. Making the AI even more inept undermines the production part of the game. In the greater part of Civ V you simply don't have to be ready for war with anything more than a skeleton army. That's simply not the case in Civ IV.

So why did you buy this game?

Endless Legend and Age of Wonders 3 seem to be poorly optimized. On my i7-3632QM and ATI 8750M (laptop) both of them tend to crawl on anything other than the lowest settings, while I can run most new games with everything turned up to the max. AoW 3 isn't really my type of game but EL is worth...

So why did you buy this game?

Its quite obvious they intended trade routes to work as they do now. The point is to make the game even more accessible by providing an easy way to compensate for bad play. Even an idiot could see that a massive influx of free resources undermines the value of tile yields, worker...

So why did you buy this game?

It makes much more sense to me to pre-plan and designate a part of the in game content to sell separately as DLC. No one's ever going to convince me that extra armor packs, or weapon packs and similar junk is justified in costing 5$-10$ and that its anything other than a cash grab intended for...

So why did you buy this game?

Its quite obvious we're getting less for our money (VS late 90's early '00) if we buy any game today on release day, is that even up for debate? Half the DLC content is done along with the game and just plucked out to milk the addicts. The trick is not to care and be patient.
