@Zydor: Thanks for checking. I did check my computer against one of the benchmark sites before Civ 4 was released. According to that site at that time, my computer passed all of the minimums. I have played several games using a standard map. I have had the problem where the game will freeze...

@zydor: I posted my DxDiag file. Have you had a chance to review it? I can not see the sheep, cows, beaver, etc or the wave motion.

Patch 1.52 fixed quite a few problems for me. However, I still can not see the animal resources such as pigs, sheep, horses or cattle. I can see their shadows, but not the resource. Also, I saw the game on a "real" computer and saw that there was wave motion at the shore line. I do not have...

I patched my Civ $ to version 1.09. The "black" terrain is gone and I can now see the land, but there are still a few problems. I can not see cows, deer, beavers, etc. I see a "shadow" mark on the ground. The wonder movies worked almost 100% before the patch. Now they skip and are...

I've just noticed that when my "black terrain" becomes normal terrain that I still can not see resources like cattle, horses, pigs, etc. I can see their "shadows" and the other resources. Just an FYI.

How can I tell if I have TnL? I can play the game (with the black terrain).

When I build a settle I would like to send a military unit with them. However when I select the "all" units icon, every unit in the city moves with the settler including fortified or sleeping units. How can I select one or two military units to escort my settler and have the remaining units...

@bio_hazard I don't remember what happening when the terrain became visible. I can not remember what shows when I clear terrain.

Amazing. While play my game "in the dark" last night, all of a sudden the land graphics appeared. The night before last I started seeing water rendered somewhat OK (except when a ship moved) and a little land on the far right edge of the screen. I could always zoom out and see the land mass...

I will keep you updated. I'm playing the game "in the dark" just to learn the mechanics. I checked my laptop via some web site just to make sure I could run the game. I met or exceeded the minimum requirements in all areas except the video card. I only have 32M, not 64M.

I would be interested if this fixed your problem.
