My system & comments: Core2 Quad 9550 (2.83 GHz) 8 GB PC6400 RAM* dual AMD 4890 crossfire 500GB disk, nothing special 24" LCD 1920x1200 Win XP SP3 32 bit and SuSE Linux dual boot. The graphics are fine, but I turned down the eye candy after a while, I don't think eye candy adds much to the...

    Great wall is crazy good!(espionage!)

Question about 'Great Spy'. I've been playing Civ IV Warlords. I have vanilla Civ IV but don't play it much. Nowhere have I ever seen a 'Great Spy' though. Is this something in a different Civ IV expansion pack? Have I somehow just completely missed the most interesting sounding unit? Thanks...

Warmonger's guide for industrial/modern era world war of conquest

In a long war where both sides will need to rely on research to provide new kinds of military units, the side that can most successfully destroy enemy science & money production will have an advantage over the long run. A secondary effect of taking out an enemy's coastal cities is that those...

Warmonger's guide for industrial/modern era world war of conquest

I like building my civ's economy more than anything. If a civ is in my way I usually take out it's cities with culture or spies. A side benefit of having a huge economy is that I usually reach a point where the dollar/shield cost of a conquest victory is not a significant part of my economic...

    Great wall is crazy good!(espionage!)

I know the question is a few years old, but my story is strange enough that I want to post an answer anyway. I've never had the AI do anything very very smart against me using espionage in Civ IV. But once, in Civ II Gold multiplayer, this happened: Internet game, emperor level, double...

Diplomats, Spies and Diplomacy Screen Stop Working

    >> Indeo is a video codec so can only fix video problems... Do you have the heralds switched on? Yes, but it was worth a try. There might have been a dangling pointer in the code that comes on the CD. I updated Indeo but it made no difference. >> Is there any pattern to how diplomats/spies...

Diplomats, Spies and Diplomacy Screen Stop Working

Could it be related to running the game on dual processor machines? Or possibly using the old original Indeo software?

Diplomats, Spies and Diplomacy Screen Stop Working

I checked the version and I have the one you mention. Thing is, this has been the case from the beginning - approx 1995 or 1996. I wonder if MGE disables spies etc if one retires and then reloads a game?

Diplomats, Spies and Diplomacy Screen Stop Working

I've had this problem for years, but I just found your forum. Part way through a game diplomats and spies can no longer act against enemy cities, and diplomacy screen does not work if I call another civ. The diplomacy screen quits after the foreign civ agrees to talks. The diplomat thing...
