I'm a strategy gamer, and occasional modder, who has a soft spot for a good story line. I play mostly TBS and RTS, plus a little RPG.
When I find a game developer I like, I tend to like everything they make. Richard Garriot (Ultima), Sid Meier (Pirates!, Civilization), and Mike O'Brien (Guild Wars, StarCraft, Warcraft, Diablo) are some of my favorite developers.
Profile pic is from The Unicorn Social Club NFT mint, by Marcus J. Carey's Metaversable. The mint funded their work exploring some
actually useful applications for blockchain technologies. Unfortunately, the project died amidst the fallout of others' NFT rug-pulls.
Mods
I cannot link to any of them, whether hosted here on on Steam because any URL triggers the anti-spam-cop.
Civilization VII
- Power Overwhelming VII: Adds Advanced Start, and Age Transition card bonuses to each era of the game, to give human players advantages.
Civilization VI
- Power Overwhelming VI: Adds Advanced Setup options to give human players combat advantages.
- Maori Leader: Hineahuone: This started as a Kupe mod, because I didn't love how Kupe played. It evolved into an entirely new leader, including all-female Toa (derived from Spearmen, instead of Warriors), the Pā re-imagined as a unique replacement for the Encampment, custom policies, etc.
Games
I tend to hyper-focus on one game at a time. Some games I've recently been obsessed with:
- Civilization VII
- Civilization VI
- No Man's Sky
- Xenoblade Chronicles: the entire game franchise.
- Guild Wars 2
- Diablo III
- Hearthstone
- Pokemon: Sword/Shield, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl, Arceus, Scarlet/Violet
- Oxygen Not Included
- Dyson Sphere Program
- Factorio
- Dragon Quest Builder's 2
Some games I was obsessed over a decade ago:
- StarCraft: the entire game franchise.
- Warcraft: the entire game franchise before World Of Warcraft.
- Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire
- Pirates!
- Archon
- Floppy, an Apple II clone of Flappy.
- Ultima I-V, plus the prequel Akalabeth.
