    Native relations & trade

If you look at the village's little status bar, the circle opposite their population number shows their desired good. It's a bit difficult to read, but in time you'll pick it up easily.

    The Mod request list

I got one that I hope would be simple. Allow the longer turn games without the added costs.

    American Revolution Mod for Colonization

I think what he's trying to say is have a scenario where you start with the actual Americas, with the actual 13 colonies, around 1776 or so, and simply play the Revolution aspect in greater detail. No real economic playing save for military and focus on battles/fights.

How to keep the REF from growing too large?

They really need to patch this and make it so those are percentages/proportions. The number of warships should only be say X% of total soldiers, when there's more warships than soldiers that's pretty stupid.

Most Difficult Meier game yet / Thread for the Vanquished

Yeah that's partially the trick. REFs warships and artillery excel in taking colonies, Not so much at holding them. You have to go in expecting to lose colonies, and fight in the rough. They need to kill all your soldiers, dragoons, and cannons and they can't do that unless they leave their...

Things that make a good start

If you have a coastal town with some expert carpenters and plenty of lumber a galleon can be built in enough time to be feasible. Usually I do that, especially when you have 4+ treasure carts sitting in your colonies waiting to go. Build a galleon, load them up, and truck them to Europe for mad...

What to do with new Colonists,Workers etc.?

Petty Criminal/ Indentured Servant : Send to natives immediately for training. Doesn't matter which, if it's a profession you don't need you can wipe it and get them to Free Colonist. Specialists : Depends on what they are. If I can use them right away then they will be sent to do their...

    Natives

I didn't steal any land and I stopped pioneering the land. Relations with that Apache leader just slid downhill constantly without any kind of warning until he got to -6, -7 and then he attacks my settlements. My point was I was doing my best not to trigger anything that would anger that leader...

    Natives

Yeah I tried that. I made two free colonists into missionaries and sent them to the two nearby settlements right from the start (knowing what would happen). I traded what they wanted from us (tools, horses, guns) and even gave a number of gifts. I also have zero beel production for expanding...

    Natives

Harmful life I think factors in several things. - How much you have altered the land (lodges, mines, farms, etc.) - The population of your colonies (when they have 3 per village and you'r pushing 9 - 10 per colony they don't like that.) - Moving into the land square adjacent to a village (you...

    Natives

IT doesn't work as well on indulgent and impressionable natives. I had free colonist missionaries in both of my nearby native villages and despite my not working hte land and trade and gifts they still backstabbed me. I think that modifier also has to do with the population size of your colonies.

    Beginner Guide

It should be noted that should you choose to make a raw matieral city on the coast, specifically food, you would want to build more. The docks, drydocks, and shipyards give you +1 food per square each, for a maximum of +3 per square. If you manage to find a spot with 5 - 7 water squares and...

    Game of Economics

I vaguely remember that actually but I'm a bit surprised by no lumberjacks. I think their training ultimately depends on their tribe and their geography. Usually villages around the tundras and fur squares tend to have fur trappers or traders. Come to think of it, the one training I haven't...

    Natives, trade and tax.

It can ultimately depend on leader personality. The only problem I had was with an impressionable and indulgent Apache leader. It ultimately didn't matter how many gifts I gave him, he still turned on me anyway.

Things from the orginal I would like to see.

I agree with nearly all of this. Once thing I excelled at in the previous game was piracy. All my money went to buying privateers and I used them a lot. CPU players would move guns and horses to their colonies from Europe and I'd be right there ready to snap them up with privateers. I completely...
