Well done guys and gals, that was fascinating reading. I used to lurk on the Civ IV succession games; this has inspired me to pick up Civ V again.

Over the years I've played Civ I, III, IV, and now Civ V (although admittedly only in demo form). For me, the 1-unit-per-turn and the hex changes have made the game much more enjoyable (stack of doom was just boring!)

I get the same when choosing lower settings on both dirextx9 and directx10. Luckily the higher dirextx9 settings are behaving themselves and are playable on my PC.

I've got a GTS 250. I can run the demo on max settings on directx 9 and it's lovely and smooth. Dx10/11 is pretty jerky on most settings though. I'd agree with what alot of other people are saying - if you're buying now, get a Dx11 card.

:agree: I'm definitely getting old when I do the sensible thing instead of running out and buying the game at midnight. Or I'm just poorer than I used to be!

Hello all, hopefully you can help me. I just installed the 1.74 patch, and when I started a new game, a strange new bug had appeared. When I move the mouse over the map, the game acts as if the mouse is one square to the south east. So when I try to select units, I often select the wrong ones...
