The UK Edition replaces Spices with Tea and the tech flavor texts for tech discoveries are read by Ian McKellen instead of Nimoy but other than those and a few other minor things such as a few graphics modifications and what have you it should be the same as far as I know.

Rushing is prudent. Joao will choke you to no end if you don't act fast and leave you with very limited land, given how close he is. Place your second city next to the copper and go for axes - if there's an opportune window to take on Joao it's definitely in the early game when he's busy...
Also the first screenshot shows that you looked in the worldbuilder and then took the screenie. Might want to consider locking modified assets if you can't keep yourself from cheating and looking into the worldbuilder.
I'm unsure whether this has been reported or not, but here goes:
I've now played 2 games up to 1505 AD on Marathon and both times they've ended in CTDs on that very turn and do so every time the game is loaded up again. Is this a known issue?
