AI always seems to beat me to neanderthal unless I get SUPER lucky and spawn near stone or a cave, I've taught myself to not rely on it (and I don't like going more than a few turns without settling). Neanderthal's totally a valid strategy though !
Honestly while I like the Neanderthal culture, more often than not I find myself getting absurdly powerful units from what I call the "Birds of Doom" stack.
A bunch of birds (Most often eagles) all decide to attack a unit but deal no damage, yet I still get the xp from it. Easiest way to upgrade...
Yeah I generally try to rush for chiefdom if I have a crowded spawn and/or play conqueror (like I am in my current game). A lot of my path to sedentary is really spawn dependent unfortunately. If I have a source of stone, I always try to head to megaliths, if I have horses, I rush for stables...
Honestly the order I go for sedentary is always spawn dependent, but I generally follow this ruleset to get to Tribalism:
I always try to go for gathering as soon as possible UNLESS I can settle my first city ontop of or adjacent to a cave, followed by unlocking chasers and scavenging, then...
Honestly I just want them to fix the horrendous pathing AI. I've lost way too many scouts because of how inconsistent zone of control tends to be around them.
My personal favorite Carthage method is Amina Carthage- funneling all my resources into Carthage when I can provides both a huge financial boost and overall high yields that allow you to get through the tech/culture trees fairly easily. The high production of the cothon allows you to zoom...
Honestly I'm having the exact opposite experience with the Fredericks that a lot of you all- I think Oblique Freddy is awful and I just do not enjoy playing him; the command radius buff feel almost negligible in the ancient era and I struggle to really get a solid foothold. Baroque Freddy, on...
If there is, I've certainly never noticed it. I think there might be a small relationship boost between leaders that share a preferred religion/government, but I've never seen it make or break anything.
Going indie, especially for something of this size, is a LOT of work- hats off to you all if you do decide to go that route.
I've put hundreds of hours into C2C so it's more than proved it's worth to me as it is now- enough to where I'd have been contributing (as an artist, mostly) if I had the...
I think it's ugly, but I can deal with that. What I can't deal with is the lack of information, confusing way the info is presented, and overall unresponsiveness.
A natural wonder I've really been wanting to see in a civ game lately is the Arabika Massif- it's a gorgeous karst range in the Western Caucuses of Georgia that's home to some of the world's deepest caves (The Veryovkina and the Voronya/Krubera.)
