i just felt the need to point out the lighter-armoured spearman and swordsman are 'later' not 'earlier'. See, Greek soldiers actually got lighter as time went by because armour was just so inconvenient.

'land' means land or countryside
'knecht' is a servant or a farmhand
In fact all grunts in germany were called landsknechts up till ww2, which is where we get 'landser' from
could someone please make a hapless Romano-Brit infantryman? Perhaps he might have a spear, little or no armour, simple iron helm and large shield with that funky Greek cross? Kinda like this one:
