    [vanilla] Civilization Guide: America (vanilla)

    Very nice guide. First time I played America, it was pretty awesome because I didn't realize how useful Manifest Destiny is.

    [G&K] Religion: How to Found and Enhance a Religion (G&K)

    A nice informative read. I upgraded to G&K recently, so this provides some nice info.

    War Never Changes, development thread

    Seems like some pretty cool stuff. Keep us updated.

    Tradition -> ???

    I like to finish Tradition, go on to Liberty, than Patronage or Commerce depending on my economic situation. I usually go halfway through before taking Rationalism.

    What should I be doing in a team game?

    Oh, that second game brings me back to some Civ IV games I've had. Good memories.

    City start location

    I try to have luxury resources fairly close (They don't have to be within, since I can expand my borders to incorporate them), a bonus resource around 3 tiles or less from the city, hills, and rivers nearby (preferably adjacent to the city). If you start near the coast, I'd move the settler over...

    The Great Wall and Dynamite

    I can see both sides. I'm more of a defensive player who likes to get the GW, so I like it as is. Is it unrealistic? Absolutely. Is a more balanced game mechanic to keep it as is? Probably.

    The Civ5 Guide

    Nice. Something to pore over and see what's different from Vanilla while waiting for G&K to download :)

    Double Scout?

    It depends on the terrain. If there's lots of hills or forests, and you want a wide empire, then, yeah, go for it. I would buy them if you have enough money from ruins though.

    New player Question;

    I usually stop building academies once I get to the Industrial era, but that may be to late or too early.

    Civilization Franchise - 50% off on Steam

    Gotta love Steam sales. I bought the Civ IV complete pack (I had Vanilla, but wanted the expansions on Steam because mine was the disc version) and all the DLC I was missing.

    What constitues a good city?

    Basically what steveg said. Also, culture is pretty important too. You need enough tiles so you can get a good population/income/production to start with and still have enough for specialists. And trade routes can help a lot if you're connecting two big cities.

    The Best Unique Ability

    Monument builders. That bonus with wonder building is really good.

    What is your favorite Civilization?

    It was hard choosing between Babylon, Egypt, and China, but Egypt wins because I always go for them in MP games. The wonder bonus is just too good to ignore. The UU isn't too bad, as it is very useful for harrassing other units and then retreating.
