Lately I've been trying to play on a huge map, w/ no barbarians, with 18 civs on Diety. I quickly learned that it's no walk in the park. What is your reaction to this? Was I crazy - is Diety supposed to be impossible? Am I wrong, or does the AI build crazy fast on higher difficulty levels?

I've tried everything w/ my friend. I've opened port 2056 on both ends, I've disabled IRC port blocking, and I still can't connect w/ my friend through direct IP. Can anyone help me out? He's tried it on 2 computers, and my friend still can't get it to work.
