    The "snowball effect"...

I do. We are not talking about game like poker, are we? I mean, one can't win suddenly by just a single good move, isn't it?

    The "snowball effect"...

By nature of the Civ game mechanism, the winner has to be a big snowball. In fact, it is the process of becoming a big snowball that generates all the fun of playing this game. The victory state is simply time to judge how big a snowball the winner is. So, 1. snowball effect is a must in Civ...

I'm speaking with my wallet--no Civ6 for me.

My guest is there won't be any future Civ. Civ 5 is the last one. I believe there left only less than a dozen fans who will preorder or buy Civ6 at its release day. Even if the Firaxis dare to produce newer Civ, the whole world will just keep waiting to see how that dozen feel with Civ6...

    Selling Civ 5

Ummm... Yes! That is just like even someone sign an agreement with me that I can kill him, and if I did, I will still be charged for murder. EULA simply can't overwrites exisiting laws.

    Selling Civ 5

Whatever the figure, it is not the money the game publisher/developer deserves... and therefore they shouldn't greed on that money. This thread teaches me, I should buy each STEAM game with a newly created account, in case I need to sell the game to someone else. STEAM can put whatever in...

    Am I Too Wonder-full?

I don't even bother to try Civ5 simply because from the discussion in this forum I know Wonders are no more that wonderful and there isn't a chance of anyone to play a wonder race to grab all wonders. In term of wonder, Civ5 designer forgoes the most wonderful game play in Civ game - wonder race.

Recommended games similar to Civ ?

Men... You all are condemning Civ5 so much in so many threads and are now praising other titles in this forum. This is the max sarcasm I can think of. Keep on... and I suppose you will get the new patch sooner and push a Civ6 out much earlier... :)

    this game is boring

I just want to point out this: In Civ (taking all Civ1 to Civ4 into account), warmonger, empire builder, diplomat, explorer etc are not mutually exclusive. e.g. I like to explore as quickly as possible in order to conquest, besides, I too want to build a great empire. i.e. I definitely...

    Soren Johnson: The Chick Parabola

Ha Ha! Me too, I have learned that it is possible for: Two people who know nothing to debate in length with one who pretends he knows something... :D

    Soren Johnson: The Chick Parabola

Isn't it sarcastic that someone (or two of them) who know so little about chess can argue with you to this extend? I thought you want to go back discussing the parabola thing of Civ5, I thought you have realized you can't pretend any more that you know a lot about chess program... It is...

    Soren Johnson: The Chick Parabola

Not true. Openning library stores early states of chess game. (normally, a lot of them) 1. If a chess program can locate one state in the library that match current state of a game, it immediately knows what is the next move. (This means the act of seeking among the recorded states replaces...

    Soren Johnson: The Chick Parabola

Nowadays, that has become a widely known fact, not a believe any more... That can not be true nor be proven in anyway. BS! 1. An openning library stores only states which are considered as within the scope of chess openning, it does not store all steps of the whole match. 2. Bigger...

    Soren Johnson: The Chick Parabola

Not true! You only need a machine say with 4 to 6-cores (you may add additional cores if you want more kick) and with a recent Chess program you may beat GM most of the time in middle game. (that is outside openning phase) In late game, it mostly depends on the time remain for the AI...

    Soren Johnson: The Chick Parabola

Openning stage is simply a subset of moves out of all possible moves from the beginning to the end of a chess game. Common sense tells: Let say, either or both sides loss one or few tokens in openning stage, if a chess AI can start thinking from that point onwards and at the end beats a...

    Soren Johnson: The Chick Parabola

I would like to repeat, that statement is misleading for it has over-emphasized the role of openning library. (you too!) No offense, but just imagine it the other way round and you should see even better why: Imagine you will be playing against Kasparov tomorrow. After the openning stage...
