Defense works because of the large amount of production it costs to replace a lost spy. Also in the LP's I've seen there doesn't seem to be any indication of if a defensive spy is present. Still I agree it is a bad idea to keep your spies at home until you have found a spy in one of your cities...
All the things that boost tourism in the early game come with other associated bonuses. Wonders are obvious. Religious relics give extra faith. Great works of writing/art/music give culture (for the civics tech tree). In Quill's museums in his Rome game I remember seeing him get some science as...
To claim cultural victory you need more foreign tourists than the highest domestic tourism among your opponents. This means picking up things that draw tourists protects you from an opposing cultural victory. Remember that there are effectively two tech trees now. One advanced by science and one...
You guys are neglecting that all the resources also count as an amenity (except for the build pre-requisites like Horses or Iron). This is the new happiness mechanic. So that Deer is probably not an ideal tile but having the camp there increases the amenity count in 4 cities (last I heard it was...
The tech buffs for other improvements:
Biowell gets +1 culture from Alien Genetics.
Academy gets +1 culture from Photogenics and +2 science from a virtue.
Manufactory gets +1 science from Nanorobotics and +2 production from a virtue.
Dome gets +1 energy from Biospheres.
Array gets +1 science...
Some of those knowledge nerfs were kind of needed. Networked Datalinks, Memeweb, Applied Aesthetics and Technoartisans were seriously strong. I don't understand the Creative Class nerf though, since its net positive health, as in after calculating negative health, it was weak before and will be...
The Apollo bonuses to the AI are pretty heavy. In MadDjinn's ARC game Brasilia is more than doubling his science per turn and this is later in the game after hes been building up and has a lot of science buildings including a science specialized city. I saw it in a diplo window at one point and...
Incorrect unless you live 12 time zones away from EST. It activates on steam at midnight EST of Friday, as in the minute it switches from Thursday to Friday.
I agree Magma, we haven't really been seeing the orbital layer used as an economic resource. They are all tremendously powerful from what I see. Increasing tile yields with extra benefits is huge. The Holomatrix especially strikes me as insanely powerful, 2 culture yield per tile under it, I see...
I think the only time I'll really give stealing technology a go is when I am not Supremacy and I am trying to steal from a Supremacy faction. Supremacy 3 is just so damned good I feel it is worth chasing every game.
There are definitely some city specializations available in BE. For instance there is a tile improvement called academy that is a science booster. On top of that there are buildings that boost science by a percentage as well as a satellite that gives a science % boost. Can do culture as well...
Waiting to buy is smart no matter what the game. I will never ever under any circumstances discourage someone from being cautious with their purchases.
That said, this forum has the least negativity in regards to your post anywhere. You are effectively preaching to the choir. People here know...
