    Humankind Game by Amplitude

I remember Endless Legend being more attractive and playable in it's earlier incarnations (2014-15). It lost something along the way, unfortunately. A patch in 2015 addressed a performance problem with AMD graphics cards by changing the camera angle and depth of field quality (for everyone)...

    Humankind Game by Amplitude

In Endless Legend, region size is something you can select in the map setup (tiny through huge). So you can create a variety of scenarios (e.g. smaller maps with huge regions generally leads to earlier conflict, due to scarcity and nearness). When playing big maps, selecting huge regions was a...

[GS] Antarctic Late Summer Patch Discussion Thread

@criZp I didn't mean to step on your question, or anything like that. I was genuinely curious why you thought the resource clumping was a bad idea, since it does generally have a positive effect on play. As it turns out, you're coming from a multiplayer perspective, and I think you have a...

[GS] Antarctic Late Summer Patch Discussion Thread

I suppose anyone's perspective on resource distribution is going to depend upon game settings, especially map size. Players on larger maps are going to appreciate the effect that localized resource pockets have on play, because they can use diplomacy or exploration to solve the scarcity...

[GS] Antarctic Late Summer Patch Discussion Thread

Please define "better". Do you not find that clustering... and therefore scarcity... adds motivation for trade and warfare? Unless there are unreasonable cases that require special treatment (e.g. Mongols start with no horses on their landmass), I find uneven distribution to be desirable.

    Gedemon's Civilization, development thread

I had a chance to check out GCO just prior to the expansion, and I must say I was really impressed with the UI elements you've added. I can't recall ever seeing tabbed tooltips before, or realizing that I needed them :goodjob: I bought GS because it looked to me like they improved on their...

    Help , crash after crash

I didn't look too deeply at your logs, but what happens if you disable all mods?

    [GS] City art style glitch

@phantomksu Did you replace any base artdefs, by chance, such as with Leugi's City Styles mod? Those would be citygenerators and culture artdefs.

Changes not documented (or obvious) in patch notes

Along with that, you can now only select a fully randomized name, rather than a random 2 part name. This makes it much harder to get "The Queen's Knockers"... short of typing it in, which is less fun. Decline

Stupid troops on the border demand!

The problem is the vagueness. Absent some direct UI indicator, there could at least be a hint given in the diplomacy dialogue. "Hey, your troops near Athens are scaring the horses. Kindly withdraw". And as usual, actual rule clarification would be nice.

Is Total War getting more popular than Civ at the moment?

Yeah, HOI4 was a complete mess when I bought it at launch (never mind the UI), and I haven't touched it since the first patch. CK2, I think the overhauls I had played altered enough formulas that attention was given to correct UI display... or maybe that was wishful thinking, obscured by the...

    Gedemon's Civilization, development thread

That sounds perfectly reasonable, given the scope of the project. No reason to torture yourself using inefficient methods and workarounds, or compromising design because a method doesn't exist. I think what I'm looking forward to most (on the tactical side, anyway) is the introduction of...

Game speed. What do you play on?

Mostly Epic, but I enjoy finding ways to cut long production corners in Marathon. Longer speeds generally require some sort of balance modding though, since the developer seems to spend little time there. Also, it irritates me to read forum posts where people describe specific game...

Is Total War getting more popular than Civ at the moment?

Not recalculating critical UI data when making strategic changes is one of the most frustrating aspects of Civ VI. We're going on 2 years of this oversight, having to manually trigger UI updates. TW campaign play had such problems in the past, but I notice it's been addressed, at least as of...

Is Total War getting more popular than Civ at the moment?

The various iterations of Total War games all generally have some workable economic, trade, and diplomacy models that can be tightened and adjusted to provide a thoughtful strategy game... tactical combat aside. The truly interesting mods for the series all earn their distinction the same way...
