I built a new rig but after installing and patching to civ 4 to bts 3.19 I'm notified upon game startup that my comp's graphics are insufficient. I'm guessing this is either a compatibility issue with the graphics card or the 64 bit OS.

Cereal Mills has been quite powerful for me in numerous games. It comes a few turns later but in many games I find my domestic resources generate equal food with either corp. This is because each resource is worth more :food: under cereal than under sushi. On huge size maps, it takes 3 cereal...
In my last game I founded 2 corps, and in both cases, it took the AI (all of them) 5-10 turns before they would trade me excess corp resources. They replied "surely, you must be joking" when I moused over Iron after founding mining inc. After 5 or 10 turns, suddenly they were willing to trade...
How would you handle a capital like this in the long run?
Lotta food/farmland for specialists but the gems sway me toward cottaging the hell out of it for a nice bureaucracy capital while running just a couple specialists with the excess food.
Good job on the last game - looking forward to this one. I'd settle on the sugar personally. It'll give the eventual coastal city that uses the cows/rice a little more room and allows for a Levy in the capital.

I don't know if the scaling is perfect, but larger maps reduce the value of each resource's contribution towards the corporate effect to compensate for this. 5 seafood on a huge map is worth less than 5 seafood on smaller maps.
If you want more AI, add more players via playing a larger map. That way the AI have a larger world to settle. Difficulty should go up a bit on large and huge maps. Any kind of race will be a bit harder with more AI's. (religions, wonders, lib).
