No I didn't... but I found my mistake, at last: I copied mods and maps in both directory that apparently didn't belong there. I didn't realize that the main menue wouldn't even start if I misplaced files there. And for some reason these files were not deleted when steam deleted the game... Puh...

hello! perhaps you (AlanH) or somebody else can help me too.... because my steam civ5 (gods and kings) won't do anymore :( . The game quits just when the menue should come up I AM the average mac user. That's why I read the instructions AlanH put up...
