Is there any reason to invest in tourism if you're not going for a cultural victory? Does it offer any kind of bonuses? Or any penalties if an enemy civ dominates you?

I also liked to play Civ IV on Epic and Marathon, but for Civ V I play on Normal. Civ V just seems to play a lot slower than its predecessor (probably to increase the tactical play of one unit per tile).
