tech advance in fewer than 4 turns?

But what version of Civ III are you playing, Allemand? I think before the 1.16f patch you could research faster than 4 turns, but afterwards you can't. You really can't Allemand, and the evidence is based on the fact that no-one other than you claims to be able to do it. I made the same...

Why do I have so much corruption?

This is because corruption (and waste) isn't calculated strictly on a basis of "this city has should have 90% corruption, this one (being closer and with a courthouse) has 50%" or whatever. The waste and corruption rules give you one shield and one commerce, and then a certain number of the...

Dennis Doucette's Civilization III FAQ v3.0

Well, OK, but some of your strategies were misleading, and would make it harder for the casual player to really work out the best way of playing Civ III. I only posted the quibbles because i thought it was a nicely written, well-structured guide, that could have evolved into something...

How to turn a win into a loss (courtesy of resources)

I find that certain resources have a tendancy all to turn up on the same island, even if you have plenty of the same terrain type on your wn. For example in my current game, on a huge map playing Babylonians against six opponents, as usual there are two continents with three opponents on...

Why do I have so much corruption?

Don't use the editor - what's the point? Its like cheating at Patience. If you want a big Empire, play on a huge map. You can have a sizable civ of about 30 cities without having unstoppable corruption and waste at the edges, if you're Democracy. Carefully place your palace and Forbidden...

    Post short tips here!

I've had several Golden Ages while playing Civ, but i'm fairly sure that it isn't possible to have two in a game. Can anyone confirm if its possible or not? Generally, i'd like to have a GA in the mid stages, around the time of industrialisation. Playing Babylonia, does anyone know what the...

    Post short tips here!

Actually, this is untrue. You can research faster than every four turns. The point about not researching slower than 40 turns is a very useful tactic, though.

did you really get two Golden Ages, holyman? I didn't think that was possible.

How to win. A short guide.

Ari, tiny maps are boring. You think that large is big. Even huge is only just big enough for me. You will have a real war on your hand if you fight in the modern era. I agree that the enemy AI is weak militarily, but on a huge map with, say, 6 opponents on deity, by the time you meet them...

Dennis Doucette's Civilization III FAQ v3.0

Nice FAQ Fox Doucette, but i had a few minor quibbles: In section 3B you say "After getting your defenders and workers you should build (in order) a Temple, a Library, a University, a Cathedral, and a Colosseum." It might be clearer to beginners if you update it to say (as i assume you do...
