OK Gorbles. If you can find a definition or workaround for “working class” this thread alone can unanimously accept you have my undivided admiration.

Well, there is no exact agreement on what constitutes a strawberry either, we still use the word.

Please expand? I suppose it is still fair so long as the CEO must work to uphold a decent living. Maybe you mistook me for someone who think this exact definition is especially important to define? You probably should try Arwon instead.

You say Starmers parents were toolmakers? I second that. Still hold him to be fifteen times more able than Joe Biden who people on the Graun are still fawning over as a model to follow?! I think Brexit broke Britons, maybe beyond repair.

They are the new party of the working class after all.

How about people who must work for a living? It is the most common definition I believe.

Seems to me the working class in the UK as everywhere acts as they have been taught and groomed to do – market friendly – in self-interest. So, “If Labour stops taking the p!ss out of working class people, maybe working class people will stop taking the p!ss out of Labour” -as a good video today...

I must admit I find an ego-fuelled “I-told-you-so” type satisfaction from reading professional wrong-person Freedland et al in the Guardian bending themselves into pretzels trying to make sense regarding Labour failing even worse under their moderate and “sensible” new leader. Freedland now...

New Super League, breaks European football

-It’s not your club. -But in greater part surely, or at least partly, I am the owner after all. -It’s not your club. -But I have the legal authority, the responsibility and all the stocks and votes. -It’s not your club. -But I can guarantee better opposition and better players for you...

    [RD] Biden v. Biden

Two thirds went with Biden in the SC primaries when Bernie had just rolled Nevada and was in the lead and Biden was in fourth place overall struggling to fill half a gymnasium without insulting at least one or two Hispanics or black people there. I would put that at counterproductive at least.

Clown Car VI: Hello, Goodbye. On to 2024.

The sports team argument hurts because it lands. Both parties are bad. Dems have the presidency, the house and senate, and the legislation has hardly moved one peg from where Trump left off. Your team basically won it all yet you won nothing.

I’m not sure what you are not sure about? If you accept and bet on the prevailing conceptualised truth you will be better equipped to run in the same circles if you learn it, that is true.

Of all I wrote that part is the part I feel most comfortable with and I did not present it as a choice but a likeness. A lot of higher education conceptual “knowledge” has no practical applications possible to test or acquire experience. We do not have a test instance planet for macroeconomics...

    General Politics Thread

Equating education and smart is likely a poor idea. Especially “higher” conceptual education like economics, law, or political science. These subjects are basically “house of cards” where a concept is built on another concept and we learn them as a chosen truth. (And not nearly as rigorously a...

I’m in Sweden. We have a Social democratic government which may lead you to believe it would be Corbyn/Berniesq. It isn’t. It is a minority government highly dependent on the backing of two centre liberal parties who as expected practice neoliberal market worship and refuse to cooperate with the...
