I'm pretty sure you're right. I still remember that specific game I posted about. In that case, Capac never introduced another resolution and I was never able to regain full membership. If I had, I would have had the votes to wrest control of the residency from him after conquering the rest...
What prevents "We won't fight with our brothers of the faith" unhappiness? I'm not clear on why I DON'T get this unhappiness sometimes. Might building the SoZ have anything to do with it?
The unhappiness lasts for 20 turns(on normal speed, anyway). Less for each religion present in your cities. Also be aware that the unhappiness stacks if you defy multiple resolutions.
It also helps to know how to avoid situations where you need to defy. Here's a handy guide for all things...
What you can do is look at the right side of the top 5 cities screen. That will tell you who built the wonder and when. Then scroll to the year a wonder was built in the log in the upper left corner of the mainscreen. Click on the entry of the wonder being built and it will center the map on...
Download the patch from the link above and install it yourself and see if works that way. Seems I may have read a few posts from others who had a problem installing it from in game.
That has nothing to do with it. The "villainy" penalty applies to cities that have the AP religion regardless of civics or your state religion. Once you have just one city with the AP religion in your civ, that makes you a "voting member" if your not running the AP religion, and subject to...
The "villian" unhappiness lasts for 20 turns in cities that have the AP religion. The duration of unhappiness is shortened for each other religion present in the cities suffering it. If you're running BUG mod, the victory screen tells you when votes come up, so you can launch your wars...
AIs' are notoriously weak at inter-continental invasions. Does Shaka even have the means to conduct one? He would need astro to build boats. Even then, on warlord level, it's unlikely he would drop a big enough stack on your shores to do any serious damage.
Yes, It would be better to kill...
My philosophy on starting on a land mass with one other Civ is pretty straightforward.
Destroy him! Immediately.
Once you've secured the entire continent, you're in a winning position for at least the space race.
Diplo is a bit more tricky. That depends on what kind of nutbags...
If you defy a resolution, it automatically fails. If it would have failed anyway, say if you would have voted "no" instead. I don't believe you suffer "villain" status, or any of the other penalties you'd suffer if it was an AP resolution you were defying...
