Help! "An error has occurred in your application." (Vanilla Civ)

The number of turns is what I was referring to, assuming that the game ends in 2020 and progresses through time at the normal pace. Setting the Game Year to 0 would take the AI's only legitimate advantage away. Anywho, yes it works now. :)

Help! "An error has occurred in your application." (Vanilla Civ)

The purpose of the scenario is an experiment... For this experiment, the human needs to be extra-strong. I was doing pretty well by 1000 B.C., but I gave my tribe a little extra push. Given this, I think it'd be absurdly unfair (even for a controlled experiment) to the ******** AI if I set...

Huh? Game Year is 61. Had I set it to 0, 421 would make a bit more sense...

OK, thanks both of you. I wonder if anyone around my skill level plays multiplayer (PBEMs or live); I need to practice against a human...

Can I randomize terrain while preserving the coastline?

Yup, the transparency feature of Paint was what I was talking about. I had to wrestle with it to get my pattern; I made each color except blue transparent by using two images, clearing, and copying back and forth. How'd you do it? I had a bunch of trouble with terrain on mine, too. CivMapGen...

Help! "An error has occurred in your application." (Vanilla Civ)

The scenario's supposed to be played on Deity. I tried setting Maximum Turns to 359 (turns played in the scenario), but it wants the turns that I played before saving as scenario included. I tried setting it to 420 and it said it would end in AD 2019 (1 year too early). So I set it to 421 (AD...

Can I randomize terrain while preserving the coastline?

The map in question is attached. You might need to change the extension to MP to open it; the board wouldn't accept it with that. The center (where non-grassland land appears) is the only part I care about regarding which terrain fills any certain land space. Except for the general shape of...

Sorry, Game Year is 61; I was telling what that amounted to. How many turns does a normal game take?

How to earn money in CIV II?

I'm no guru, but I thought I would add this anyway. I use Fundamentalism every chance I get, usually by the Statue of Liberty. I raise the science rate to 80% (until I learn to trade enough) and fill the rest with taxes (until I learn to use WLTRD). My last game that I did this, I was on the...

    Early Conquest

Another beginning, a log file, and my exhaustion of Hanging Gardens are attached. I did ICS until I needed Hanging Gardens, got Hanging Gardens and thought I could settle to my heart's desire, and stopped only after I got into so much deep dooky. Excess? Isn't 3 riflemen per city about right...

Can I randomize terrain while preserving the coastline?

I have a map that I drew in Map Editor, and I like the general shape of the land masses. But most of them are pure grassland (the only exceptions being in the focal point of the scenario). Can I somehow have the several terrains randomly placed on that grassland? Further, how might I...

    Attachment Filetype Suggestions

Could CFC support the ODT (OpenDocument Text) extension for uploads? I just uploaded my log file that I wrote in OpenOffice.org Writer, but I had to save it as LOG.DOC to do so. Writer has an option to save Word files, but I don't know that it will look right in Word (and can't check)...

Help! "An error has occurred in your application." (Vanilla Civ)

Game Year is -1000 (correct), Turn Year Increment is 0 (for default rate), Starting Year is -1000, Maximum Turns is 0 (for default - I want it to go to 2010 or 2020, whichever is normal).

Ah! The %STRING constants don't matter, but that end does (although I thought I had tried that). Thanks! EDIT: Why does it have %STRING1 (the beginning) as 1000 B.C. and %STRING2 (the ending) as 4000 B.C.?
