BOTM 285: DeGaulle, Prince - Final Spoiler - Game Submitted

This one was super frustrating for me because I was hunting for a conquest victory. I had it all lined up but didn't know enough about the game mechanics to clinch the deal. I had the Dutch and Celts as peace vassals and had 3 Greek cities completely surrounded by my culture with >90% french...

[BTS] BOTM 282 - Khmer, Immortal - Final Spoiler (game submitted)

This one proved too difficult for me. I managed to eliminate Shaka but faced a massive opposition with Isabella who had Catherine as a vassal. For a while she had Gandhi too (peace vassal). I figured I needed to smack her to have any chance of winning. I won some minor battles - sniping the...

    BOTM 284: Weihnachtsmann, Monarch - First Spoiler - 1AD

My game went quite differently to those above. I settled next to gems and had barb trouble because i couldn't quite get enough units where they needed to be. I was worried about the lack of strategic resources and missing an opportunity to expand into the continent. So I self researched...

[BTS] BOTM 284 - Weihnachtsmann, Monarch - Starts Dec 26

I'm like @kcd_swede and @Conquistador 63 , already started. Was too impatient to just get into it and move those two lovely units. An intriguing map indeed with lovely FPs but no hammers.

[BTS] BOTM 283: Scrooge, Noble - First Spoiler to 1AD

That's funny, I did exactly the same thing - same coastal plains hill and same Delhi capture. Maybe a few turns later due to exploration and pathing decisions. I must say, having Colossus early was the real Christmas present!

[BTS] BOTM 282 - Khmer, Immortal - First Spoiler to 1 AD

I like the look of ariosto's game. Getting an early chunk out of Izzy seems key. I couldn't keep up in this game. I settled 2NE which didn't help me at all. Self researched iron working and went for Shaka, but not fast enough to beat him having axes. Was able to take two cities, one of these I...

Also, what's a minor civ? Should that be obvious to me?

Could we persuade the mapmaker to give out 3 gold medals for this game, or at least 3 Christmas puddings?

[BTS] News: BOTM 279 - Cyrus, Prince - Results & Congratulations

Woohoo feels good to finally secure a good medal (yeah, just a Prince game I know...). Thanks @kcd_swede for the game and thanks to staff and community for the GOTM series and the incentive to go after stuff like the eptathalon. Fun fact, I got my first "fastest finish" award in BOTM 1 (16...

Thanks @kcd_swede for the game. I really enjoyed having to adapt to the medieval start and it was a good challenge planning how to use both settlers

[BTS] BOTM 281 - Hannibal, Monarch - First spoiler to 1AD

I started this one with a focus on commerce and did as much as I could to get cottages going around the capital. The starting area is good but probably with only enough space for a modest number of cities before needing to strike out. I found the AI tech rate to be painfully slow and accepted I...

I really liked the two-settler start. Gives you lots too think about.

@antimony well done for completing your eptathalon in style! Thanks staff for another interesting game! I bucked the trend with my starting city location and it almost paid off!
