No, now I remember that I couldn't fix it. I have a feeling if you do anything at all to the map, the application thinks you have a custom map... in this case all water and no starting locations.

Oh yeah... I think I fixed it by clearing the map.

I had that problem once... I had accidently managed to click on the map, placing a land square. Perhaps that helps - and maby not!
