Yep. Sorry but that's the closest a Google search came to answering my question(s). Using this site's Search comes up with vague or irrelevant responses. Thanks for clarifying WM. Cheers!
Twenty Hammers per City. Hard to believe but true. Grimith was playing as Shaka on Emperor (Standard map) when Churchill's two Vassals gave him pause from further warmongering. So he switched to Corporate mode, creating Mining Inc and entering the Spacerace. Was thinking about using this method...
That's sound advice. However this situation is especially critical in the early game when, say, you've got a few Warriors and Barbs start coming at you. Losing three Warriors in a row at 96% odds or better could mean the whole ballgame right there. But such is life.
Simple as that eh? Rather ironic I've won more Spaceraces on Monarch than Domination (and lost the vast majority of both) without using Pacifism/Caste System at all. So maybe switching---at least during Golden Ages---would be advisable. BTW various queries and ponderings on this thread alone...
Yeah, thanks folks. You're almost certainly right---I play with Random Events on along with all other stock game features. In fact there was something similar which happened to a Farm tile which gave it extra Food. No doubt something like that happened to Istanbul before it was captured. Thanks...
While perusing tile yields I noticed something odd at Istanbul. Check out the Grassland Hill w/Windmill one Tile NE of city center. It yields four Hammers, while a Riverside Grassland Hill Tile w/Windmill directly S of city center yields only three (Istanbul has a Levee). How does that...
A couple days ago was playing as Charlemagne at Monarch on Standard Continents map. Made it to Liberalism first, selected Nationalism, teched to Military Tradition and Rifling to get Cuirassiers and Cavalry. Proceeded to Vassal two more Civs and wipe out another (had already Vassaled Malinese)...
YouTuber Grimith has experienced this sort of thing numerous times in his games. His potty-mouthed verbal ejaculations and other aural histrionics are something to hear. Methinks it's more than just random chance but can't prove it---sorta like Elite or just-promoted units in Civ3 which lose...
Welcome to the Civ4 forum druss! Don't know if I can play shrink and deal with your problem (unless you pay me a few hundred bucks an hour, haw!) but if you can overcome it somehow you'll be in for quite an experience. This game is something else, and takes a lot of getting used to. As a former...
Actually can't be totally sure of that. The opportunity for a screenshot has been lost. My bad. If it ever happens again though I won't forget to take one (I hope anyway, haw!). Thanks and Happy New Year everybody!
Thanks. Perhaps this case was exceptional in that I'd fought three or four aggressive wars against Mansa and he was furious. That was about a year ago, although a couple days ago (on Monarch as Mehmet) I'd vassaled Justinian, Brennus and Ramses without any problems with passage, even without OB.
Sorry for the OT but just wanted to ask if vassals can refuse Open Borders and free passage through their territory. This happened in a game with Mansa Musa vassaled but he wouldn't agree to OB and whenever I tried to go through his territory the game wouldn't allow it, just like after a peace...
Fair enough. It largely depends on how one feature or another strikes you. At the risk of flogging a dead horse let me say perhaps Civ4's biggest downside is the over-the-top whipping. In Civ3 each Citizen whipped gives only 20 Shields and adds one unhappy for 20 turns. That's stacked if more...
