Sorry about the time gap, damn thing won't crash when you want it too, what exactly am i looking for in the logs folder?

The event viewer doesn't say anything out of the ordinary, but i couldn't find the event manager. is it the same thing?

This is really getting me down, i have xp home, i can load and play civ 4 for a short time and its fine, but after playing the game for more than half an hour, it just closes. No error message occurs and my computer does not close down, it just acts as if i have shut down the game manually...
