Yup, Vista obviously comes with DirectX 10, but I read somewhere about a guy who had reverted to 9.0c to make Civilization run more smoothly and since it's possible to run both versions without conflict, I don't see why not (at least that's what he wrote - I haven't actually tried it!) . . ...

I tried out a large map, still with 19 civilizations and 6 continents and got as far as the early 500's, but since I didn't notice Hyborem and thus the hell terrain, I figure he might've entered the game late and then it crashed . . . Not sure . . . Anyways, once I'm passed turn 450, the game...

My most recent huge map with 19 civilizations on Epic speed died after turn 470 :( Alzara, how can you play maps MUCH larger than huge size? I can't even play huge size . . . I do have Vista and DirectX 10, but then my PC is completely new AND has 4GB of Ram! Anyways, I'm back to large size...

I'm wondering about how other people set up their single player games . . . I used to play mainly on huge Terran maps before I tried version 31 d and e and didn't have Beyond the Sword yet . . . And usually I only played with a small number of civilizations . . . I still prefer Huge maps...

They kinda suck anyways - I mean they make the desert capable of providing one piece of measly toast and I believe that's aboot it . . .

1600 is how far I've gotten as of yet - but then I've had a problem with crashes in late game - seeing your scores, those crashes were more likely early to mid game :D Anyways, I'm sure I can get it above 2k this time, with the new patch and if now, I'll try out a larte map instead of a huge...
