    Rising Tide - First Impressions

Some people might remember me as a big 'disliker' of BE and I still think I was very correct at that time. That being said, my first impression of Rising Tide is very good. BRB after I end my first match (INTEGR).

So... what does the CIVBE-Starships connectivity mean?

I hope they don't go down the same route as Ubisoft has. You need like 5 pieces of external software across multiple platforms to get all the content of a PC game you bought. What a mess. Not to mention the constant connectivity problems.

First impressions: Wonders still suck (big time).

One is an element of the other I would say. So that's a rather arbitrary differentiation.

Civilization: Beyond Earth's creators are fixing their biggest mistakes

I think it's very impertinent of them to connect every confession about the shortcommings of the game to "radical changes in the atmosphere". No, that is not the problem!!! If CiV played on an alien planet with all the names of resources and leaders changed, it would still be the far superior game.

What would make the wonders wonderful?

I think most wonders should go farther than adapting some numbers. Some ideas to improve the wonders: Xenomalleum choose petroleum, titanium or geothermal, all requirements of the chosen resource are removed. Xenodrome alien opinion is always at max +1 culture every turn for each alien unit...

What would make the wonders wonderful?

I agree with this. As I said in another post, the balance of a wonder should come from the risk / reward ratio in a competetive environment and the need to pass on or delay other things the faster I want to get it (which also increases my disadvantage if I still fail to get it in the end). So if...

'We should have been more audacious' - A Civilization: Beyond Earth retrospective

If you challange someone's credentials, be prepared to be asked for your own. OBVIOUSLY. Anyway, every time someone calls you out you just straight up 'straw man' the hell out of everything. Talking to you is a spectacular waste of time. /ignored Please feel free to do the same.

'We should have been more audacious' - A Civilization: Beyond Earth retrospective

Are you saying that 5 / 5000 players or less find apollo too easy? Generally, nothing. But I never agreed to have this strictly hypothetical discussion. And even if it were 1% (or 0.1%), difficulty in BE is mostly defined by just a few values. So what's the big deal about changing them and...

First impressions: Wonders still suck (big time).

Sure, but if this is possible, I think the problem lies somewhere else. Does it work out in 100% of the cases? If so, why? AI problems? Does the player gain disadvantages in other areas because of his focused / rushed strategy? If not, why? General balance issues?

First impressions: Wonders still suck (big time).

For me wonders have always been about high risk - high reward. So it's okay to make them strong since you wind up with too many wasted turns if you fail to get the wonder (which can actually cause you to lose the game). Overpowering them is not really that much of an issue (in reasonable extent...

First impressions: Wonders still suck (big time).

Some are insignificantly worse, but Xenomalleum, Gene Vault and Ectogenesis Pod stick out. They have been butchered.

First impressions: Wonders still suck (big time).

People wanted wonders that are more awe inspiring and yes, they really did improve some wonders... But what in the name of hell makes them still think at this point that it's a good idea to take 3 of the wonders that have been broadly appreciated (which almost equals the total number of...

'We should have been more audacious' - A Civilization: Beyond Earth retrospective

But we knew from the getgo that these numbers are totally off for the concrete context of BE. So let me repeat my initial question before pages of useless discussion about hypothetical questions: What precisely was achieved by constructing this artificial controversy that coudn't have been...

The power of a common enemy. ;) :goodjob: It is, indeed, a sad state of affairs when we look at our fellow forum members as enemies. Is it no wonder that we cannot keep discussions civil?
