I'm running it fine on Windows 8 with the Nvidia 306.23 whql drivers.

I'm starting to think this problem may indeed have something to do with the game either overloading the GPU / overheating the card. A brief history: 1) 8800 GTX, Win 7 experiencing render errors but running on old nvidia drivers. 2) Upgraded Nvidia drivers to 304.79 and works fine. 0 crashes...
