Went and listened to Assyria and Dai Viet as soon as the patch dropped. Assyria has fun percussion in it to which I quickly ended up tapping along, though there is also a fair lot of repetition in the theme that makes me suspect that this one was composed by Roland Rizzo. The Dai Viet theme is...

    Civ VII Developer Update - July 2025 | What's coming in tomorrow's 1.2.3 update!

I've noticed that Golestan is in fact featured in the Qajar background art (notice the window shape and pattern, the roof, the pool...). Whether that means that it is included as a wonder or not is uncertain (though I'd be very happy if it is), but we can be sure that it is included at least in...

Seeing Roland Rizzo produce something brilliant is always a nice surprise, so I'm glad to have been wrong on this.

I turned the game on to give both the new themes a listening or six. Now, I went into Bulgarian theme expecting it to be good from the leak. And that part of the theme - which is roughly the second half of the theme - truly was good. But the part before it... That was beautiful. It is quite...

The snippets of both the Bulgarian and the Nepali themes sound quite nice. I'm looking forward to hearing them in full.

Some horse Jesuses appeared in my current game. The Japanese are lucky historical Mongols didn't have those :mischief:

Seems I was correct regarding my guesses about who composed which theme. My indicator was that I felt that British theme had more organic development to it than the Carthaginian one. I suppose Rizzo's compositions tend to be more... noticeable in their transitions between differents...

I didn't exactly feel excitement or much other emotion when listening to the Carthaginian theme, though I must say I liked the percussion present throughout it. I have a hunch this theme might be Roland Rizzo's work. As for the British theme, I think it's quite pleasant to listen to (I...

In my first game, I got the sight of two Munichs, both of them bordering my most populous city.

    What was your first victory?

Economic victory as Achaemenid Xerxes, Maurya -> Chola -> Mughal line. Solving every problem by throwing money at it was rather nice.

What are your top 3 favorite base game civ songs in Civ 7?

Momentarily, it's probably Maurya, Mongolia and Meiji (lot of Ms, huh). Maurya sounds powerful and spiritual, and I like the idea of it combining Buddhist, Hindu and Jain chants to convey the great religious diversity of India. Mongolia is just beautiful. Very peaceful and evocative of the...

    I just want cool hats

Shame the Qajar shahs were such terrible rulers that even though we'll be getting their civ, there is no chance of any of them appearing in the game. The Kiani crown reminiscent of bejewelled pineapple is quite the sight to behold :P.

Here's to hope the Bulgarian theme has some Orthodox chants, like the Byzantine themes do in the previous games :). I'm also curious about the Qajar theme. Combination of Persian and Western instruments can sound delightful (as an example, I like to relisten to this piece from time to time), so...

Likely, considering that we've already heard six Rizzo's themes in modern (Qing, France, Russia, Buganda, Meiji Japan and Prussia) but only three Knorr's (Mexico, United States and Siam). I am very curious about that one - both Maurya and Chola sound wonderful to me. I hope India strikes a...
