I see your point but I think you are missing that not only does his UA make influence degrade with half the speed it also increase with double speed, thus the estimate is more like 75 GPT. But you are also assuming his UA is only making a benefit it for 6 CS but he receives bonuses from all his...
I haven't built the national intelligence agency yet but I will sure try it. I don't think it is enough to beat Alex CS domination on a large map (20 CSs) but it sure can be a good tool to gain influence over some CSs and get some resolutions passed in the WC.
For now, I am letting Alex back...
In my game I ended up in a ≈30+ turn war with him (he didn't want peace :p) together with my closest friends and neighbours and when the war ended it was too late to rig enough elections and his influence over CS was very high. During the war I built my defences ... in retrospect I should...
Another way of looking at it I guess is that diplomacy is broken. I don't think he would be too much of a problem if I would uncheck diplo victory but I don't want to do that because it keeps me on my toes (or reduce the number of CS).
Anyway, it should not be so simple to control all CS as...
There isn't much work involved. Just pay a few CS put spies on some and sent a merchant to one you're behind on. After that it is basically self sustaining since most of the quest they put out will be fulfilled by managing your normal business and your influence will just increase to insane...
Maybe I will try it again but I guess he didn't spawn on a different continent in your win? When I met Alex he had like 150-200 influence over the CS.
I found when playing him myself that he was extremely powerful both in the early game (UUs) and he dominated the late game because of the...
Yeah, maybe that was my problem to not deal with him early enough. But trying to buy him out is expensive and probably not sustainable unless you are deep in the patronage tree (and Alex would still have a major advantage).
I just lost a game to Alexander in the first vote of the UN (king level, continents and large map) and decided to try him out myself and had no trouble winning the first vote either (allied all but 2 CS at that time) but opted to continue and bring down a domination victory.
To me, his...
