Hello everybody.
Sorry for being quiet for soooo loooong. The truth is, I had moved on from unit creation, and my time is now devoted to other projects. However, a PM from The Last Conformist gently reminded me that I did promise some units for the Peloponnesian War scenario.
Right then...
Ah, you mean the the war started by the U.S. in 1812, in which the Americans tried to invade Canada while Britain was fully engaged with fighting Napoleon in Europe, were repelled, and ended up having their capital city captured and burnt? ;)
Here is a quick overview of this conflict:-...
The lowest rung in the Spartan/Lacedaemonian caste society were the Helot serfs of the Messenian region, in the western Peloponnese. Conquered in the 1st & 2nd Messenian Wars (740 - 720 BC and 680 - 650 BC), these Helots had almost no rights whatsoever and were tied to the land on which they...
What! 20 new Hoplites....and the 8 I had made before....plus the vanilla Civ3 Hoplite and the Numidian Mercenary....making a total of 30 of the damn things....
....and you want MORE variety!!! :suicide:
Actually, it's not a bad idea.
"Leave it with me...." :D
Hoplites are...
I think that Viking Yeti & mrtn have already answered this one, so I am just repeating what they said. :D
SBB requires that ALL flcs have the same frame size, AND the same number of frames. So just open flc 'B' in FLICster with 24 frames instead of 8, and copy ALL the first eight frames into...
A very good question.
("Yeah, what's that lazy bugger Kryten up to now he's sober again!" :D )
Very well. Here is a preview of 20 ( ) new Hoplite units which I shall be posting in the next few days. :)
Why so many? Well, when I eventually get round to converting them to Multi-Figure...
I can help. :)
For adding new units to PTW, have a read of this:-

....and here is a guide by Colonel Kraken on how to add them to C3C (which is almost the same as adding them to PTW):-...
Ah! CivFanatics upload is down at the moment....I cannot get at ANYTHING just now. It will be back soon.
By the way, the H-Bomb explosion animation is not THAT big: just 510 Kb. :)
(Size isn't everything you know....at least, so I'm told. ;) )
Hmmm, in this current controversy over the Spartan fleet, would it not be a good idea to let history be our guide? :)
Remember that earlier in this thread I strongly urged people TWICE to have a read of this site....

....well, here is a quote from...
Here you go matey. :)
Something seemed to have happened to the smoke when viewed with the Alpha.pal palette, so I simply copied the smoke from the original Civ3 ICBM animation.
As for the 'blue' civ colours, I just used the PaintShop Pro 'colour replacer' tool to also change them to...
As we are all dreaming about things we wish we could add or change, here is something that I sent to Steph in an e-mail some time ago..... :)
Alas, it is but a dream..... :(
A very interesting discussion. :)
Here are some thoughts of my own.
On a random map, anything goes. But on a REAL WORLD MAP, it can be bit of a problem. The solution that I feel most comfortable with is the following:-
* I like to combine the Sumerians & Babylonians into a single civ...
I think it looks excellent! :goodjob:
Do please tell your friend to continue. :)
(As there is no point in two of us working on the same unit, I won't bother continuing with my feeble efforts, but will instead return to wading through my long, long list of promised ancient units. :D )
