Thanks for the help, however this still didnt solve my problem. done a fresh install, downloaded the zip from the other thread, patched that in, and followed the step by step word for word, and its still crashing on the loading screen back to desktop :(

Got Civ4 on christmas day to my delight, installed it straight away! Launched from desktop short cut..... Loading screen pops up... Crashes back to desktop =( I have installed the latest patch and downloaded the latest ATi graphics drivers for my Radeon 9800 Pro, and yet this problem...
