Thanks everyone-- Ironically, another shot at reinstalling on the G4 worked, but the G5 still gets the error message! I'll keep trying to reinstall a few more times (no, the file wasn't edited at any point), and if it still won't work, I will definitely see if the folks at Aspyr can help...

The file is there where it should be; not running anything case sensitive (I'm just a lazy typist!); I compared the playerinfo file to a few others to see if anything obvious jumped out at me... they all look pretty much the same. Any other thoughts? I've tried reinstalling 3 times now, and...
