I managed to get the game working. i reinstalled my sound card and for some reason it starting working n didnt crash on me :D thanks for the reply anyway mate!

i have a realtek sound card and everytime i load up Civ4 is says 'You have selected an unusable capturing device. Voice capture disabled'. Will i have to change my sound card to a soundblaster? or is there a way round it?
