    Looking for mid-game war advice

if you take a city then raze it your culture requirements for social policies will go up permanently IIRC (this may have changed in BNW) so I'm actually really not sure what to do with France, but you may have the right idea, plunder his lands and kill his army, make him surrender a city to you...

    Looking for mid-game war advice

not on my home computer atm so can't take a look at your save, but on emperor and below, getting denounced by everyone isn't so bad once you take control of your happiness issues. that being said, I'd say build a couple of archers to defend your borders then level France, he's being an...

Balancing Production and Growth (and city management in general)

Yeah I'm going for mostly CV's now, since I find them super fun and love playing as Brazil (where CV is a natural), I had a few options near the beginning, but Greece was ahead in military/everything the whole time, only Songhai, Indonesia, and China were near him, and everything would've been...

Balancing Production and Growth (and city management in general)

Thanks for the tips! :) this game I'm in the middle of is going great! Had an insane start with coast, salt, flood plains and deer, was able grow my 4 cities all to 25+ pop by like turn 250. I took your advice about the prioritizing growth and cut a lot of the fat out of my build queue, I used...

Why are desert starts considered overpowered?

flood plains are awesome for growth, if you can get a wheat or 2 and some hills in there you're in for a beastly starting city, Desert Folklore is the #1 pantheon ever and will allow you to snowball your faith output like crazy.

Balancing Production and Growth (and city management in general)

Thanks for the tips everyone! Yeah I think I'll definitely take the worker tip, I'm into the habit of 1 worker per city, and I'm seriously feeling the crippling effects, especially since I play Brazil a lot and jungle tiles take an eternity to work. I can usually get National College up and...

No peace, infinite waves of enemies...

Indeed, a squad of super leveled units can level a whole army but nope it only counts for 20k military points, OKAY CIV 5, OKAY.

Newbie at Civ5, what is a good start for cultural victory as Brazil?

Korea and Babylon are really good, both are top tier science civs. I'd say that Babylon is a bit more newbie friendly, you get a great scientist right when you finish researching Writing and that could give you a really good edge in the beginning if you make an academy out of it (which can...

Any benefit to founding city on rivers anymore?

best city placement is often thought to be on a river and next to a single mountain tile or at least I think it is

Why do people say that Germany and Japan perform badly?

I agree with the part about the culture and a UB to replace Zero. though I think the UA can be kept as Bushido, but has a changing effect like France did in vanilla and GnK. After Japan was unified samurai became more of a social status than a warrior class, and many samurai became scholars...

Balancing Production and Growth (and city management in general)

Hey everyone! So I'm currently an Emperor player, mostly doing culture/diplo/sci victories as peacefully as possible, and though I can win consistently at this level I've been trying to shave down my win time so I can take the next step to Immortal. My main problem is city management, I've read...

    Playing Brazil on Emperor Level

you'd want to chop all mines and focus on growing your cities and micromanage when the time comes, I love Brazil also, granted in a lot of my games I get lucky with the start and often get something like desert hills and flood plains with jungles nearby. However, I am always able to build...

10 Things You Aren't Doing in BNW (But Should)

Solid tips for the most part, nice list :) I actually would not recommend opening, even honor opening alone is not worth the culture because by the time you're vying for the more important policies/tenets your costs will just be sky high. Always do consulates + pledge, the diplo hit is...
