$100 will net you a 7600GT, although you might have to check your power supply to see if your comp can handle it-the GTs usually require a 350watt
The game automatically crashes to desktop with no error messages whenever the game (any game, any civ, any map) reaches 325AD.

I'm also having a problem very similar to this: crashing at 350 AD
running this game off a 256mb Radeon X600
I've heard of some kind of problem with ATI cards but don't know about the specifics, could that have anything to do with it?
