    Linux setup . . .

I don't have any slow or stuttering graphics and I always play on gigantic maps. What kind of hardware do you have (graphics adapter)? Also what resolution do you run the game in? Full screen or window?

    Linux setup . . .

Good to see more people getting Colonization WtP to run on Linux. I haven't played WtP for some time now, but I recently got the urge to play again :D. Seem to work perfect with Wine 10.x as well.

    Linux setup . . .

You run an up to date system so your system looks good in my books. It's even slightly newer than mine which is Fedora 39, 6.7.7 kernel and Wine 9.1. I was about to say that you should use a newer Proton version, like the current 8.x or even the 9.xbeta, but since you have the standalone...

    Linux setup . . .

What Linux distro/version are you using? What Proton version are you using? I'm perhaps fortunate enough to have the old standalone DVD version of CivCol4 so I don't have any experience with the Steam variant, I run CivCol4 directly with Wine. However you should only make sure to have msxml3...

Linux Python Bug on End Turn?

Is this with 4.1 version? CivCol4 has it's own internal Python version that run inside wine so there's no connection to any Linux Python version. Now I haven't had any really long games with 4.1 yet. However so far it has been very stable on my Linux system. Do you have any saved game that can...

    WTP on Steam Proton?

I have the msxml3 (think it's a requirement of the base vanilla game), however I did not specifically install the oleaut32. So I installed the oleaut32, but still the same. Then I did the same in a smaller test Wine prefix and then I got it to work okay. Seem like something inside my default...

    WTP on Steam Proton?

I just get an "unhandled page fault" during initializing. The crash occurs at what I think is the end of the "init XML" phase or just before the "init engine" phase. Not sure how useful the error output really is? It's not like a segmentation fault in Linux, it's more of an internal page fault...

    WTP on Steam Proton?

Just curious, was that with the WtP-3.0.1 version? I have tried to run the latest WtP 3.0.1 using wine 7.5, but it always fail in early initialization. Also just tried the latest wine 7.8, same problem. The older WtP 2.8 works perfectly fine on either wine version.

    Removing Rush Purchasing of Buildings?

I for one fully agree with you. Well maybe not remove the hurry function completely, but at least put more limits or restrictions on how it can be used. For example a need to have all required resources in the colony rather than just buy all resources out of thin air. However I do also realize...

    New Founding Cities Mechanic [IMPLEMENTED]

To be honest I'm not so keen on it either, it was just to get some extra perspective on how it's been done elsewhere. That said, it's for similar reasons I'm not so keen on the settler unit either. The founding of the colony mechanics, yes that is the same. What I was talking about is what...

    New Founding Cities Mechanic [IMPLEMENTED]

Had to have a look to freshen my memory :p. In DoaNE you load the transport (a ship not so sure about the early caravan) with a "builder pack". The pack can buy be bought in Europe or loaded from a colony provided that all necessary resources are present. It seem to be like a hidden cargo spot...

    New Founding Cities Mechanic [IMPLEMENTED]

I like the idea of making it a bit harder to create a new colony, but must admit that I'm not that keen on introducing yet another profession for it. Maybe something similar as DoaNE have done with a form of colony build kit that must be transported by ship or caravan? Personally I would love...

    Native AI

I also don't like seeing friendly tribes loose settlements due to my own cultural expansion. In a lot of cases it's land plots that my colonies can't even use. I would not mind if the natives simply ignored ownership of a tile as long as it is not in use by a colony or is occupied by hostile...
