That was my original thought, that only Units that start as gunpowder receive the benefit.
So musketman > rifleman etc..
Not maceman > musketman
On the Armor side I figured that wouldn't make a huge difference anyways as the only upgrade path is Armor > Modren Armor
I know its not possible w/...
I would like to create a national wonder (Colt Armory) to reduce the upgrade cost for armor and gunpowder units by 25-50%. I have no trouble w/ editing XML but I have just started w/ Python. Does anyone know if this is possible at all w/ the present tools? Also I would like to hear thoughts on...
I say thank you Harkonnen for making the last month of Civing a joyous experience not punctuated by the frustration of waiting 5min to resume playing after hitting the end turn button.
I haven't dl'd the new patch yet but we can only hope that firaxis did as good as job as Hark.
Great Idea. I was getting tired of having the same cities every time and had started renaming them when I would settle. But now you have saved me all of the work. I'll install it when I get home from work.
"You go to war with the army you have."
I like to have at least 10 units for my initial rush w/ reinforcements already on the way before I start my assualt.
I like to stagger my troops so I always have back up when an assault fails or if the enemy gets upitty and decides to try a counter attack.
Mansu Musa (sp?) is my most hated of the Civ leaders. He has been in every game I have played (7+) and annoys me to no end. He hasn't done anything to deserve this really, he is never a challenge and he can be bullied into giving you everything he has. Yet I have always found a reason that he...
I have been using them as such but I haven't payed really close attention to see if the land units are receiving the bonus. The bonus from a ship should work w/ units on land as the promotion descriptions don't mention domain at all.
From what I've read here I don't think so. When the construction of the componets complete then the game is over so I think the only way to defeat this is to either beat them to the punch or destroy their capacity to produce the parts.
Like everything else in civ I do what the moment demands.
In general I try to make different groups of units based on their promotions.
Following the Axeman example I would make:
Melee Killer, w/ combat 1 and shock
City assault, (assuming no access to iron) combat 1 and cover
Rangers, Woodsman I...

While religion does provide the same bonus (+1 culture) it doesn't start in the city.
What I mean is if you found a new city and have already completed stonehenge then the city starts w/ a Obelisk. Religion has to be spread. If you want it to happen right away you have to build a...
Recently I've been playing on maps w/ a lot of water. As a result I've had to come up w/ strategies for sea invasions.
One thing I've taken to doing is giving all of my galleons, transports, combat I and medic I promotions (usually after I can build drydocks). Then I keep one or two of my...
Two words "Battle Groups", if you send out a lone ship and it has to engage in combat don't be suprised to lose. The only unit that works as a lone wolf is the sub because of the withdrawl chance.
