I have run into this same problem. Using one of the third slots for a business, I built an automobile manufacturing company in a city that was already producing steel, thinking that since the steel is already there, it could use the steel to produce the cars. This does not work, for some reason...

Even after the second patch my game still has issues. I get random hard crashes, I might be able to play for a minute or it can be an hour. My comp is fine, and I don't have these problems with any other games.

Couldn't they have solved this issue by doing what some companies did? You can put two engines on each train. One at the back that is put in reverse to help the lead engine to do less work. Then instead of turning the train around, they switch roles, the back becomes the lead and the lead...
