A way to stop ICS and make the game more interesting

In my opinion yes. Link population with science in each city by the formula Science(pop) = pop x pop instead of just Science(pop) = pop is enough to underpowered ICS. It will stay a good way to win (why not ?), BUT all players will try to have cities with farms to generate more sciences and...

    ICS best of the best!

my 2 cents. To underpowered ICS (*) and make viable other strategy easily, i really think that the mathematical function used to link science and population should be a powerfunction (^Y). The value for each technology in the tech tree should be scaled in consequence (the hard part of the...

Civ 5 RE-install Help - Lack of help

I think i have the same problem. First, i've bought the DVD and i've clicked Setup.exe. It works, create a Steam Account and I had a Steam and a CiV icon on my desktop. When i clicked CiV icon, i could play it. Unfortunalty, later, my harddrive crashed. I bought a new one. Install the same...

    [Stacking units] By a pro-1UPT

I guess you've made a quick (too quick) answer here. Give me a stack of 10 Knights (18px10) and (if i don't make tactical mistake) i will win against one stack of 7 pikemen (10p (+100%) x7) and another of 3 catapults (14p x 3). Give me the same stack of 10 Knights and i guess i can't do...

Do you quit when you know you will definitely win?

I used to go until the end to see which my score is. Win against AI is one thing. Win with a better score is a double-win. I usually leave the game only when i know i've been overpowered with no chance to come back.

Singularity as an alternative "tech victory".

This. Exactly. I start Civilization with a settler on a planet. Sending a settler to another planet is really perfect to start a new game with a new planet.

    I don't understand the economy

No, no, no. I can't believe a player who has played Civ IV has problem with the difficulty of the Prince level in Civ V.

    [Stacking units] By a pro-1UPT

First, i'd like to say that i'm pretty happy 1UPT has been designed. I've noted that a lot of people are complaining about the dissappearance of stacks. I don't want to be too rude, but there are a lot of posts about that and, in my opinion, most of them contains no real improvment (but i...

    The turn base in multiplayer

I guess the best solution is to make an arrangment with all the players (if they're friends, it's easier). With my friend we play with this rules : - units in neutral area can play simultaneously - if two or more players are in a non neutral zone, attackers plays first with all his units in...

Civ V Ideas & Suggestions Summary

This is good. But it's really powerful ! I guess forts will be used massivly (too much?) in multiplayer and something need to be added to limit the number and/or make them harder to build. As upkeep costs don't really follow the design of Civ V (upkeep costs are only in cities), i guess one of...

    [Return of health] Population pyramid

It can't for sure ! But, i've try to keep the model as simple as i can. Space (tile unworked) is a nice design. It could easily replace food. Just count the number of unworked tile each turn, put the number in a stack. When stack has reached 50 (for instance), add 1 population. If i compare...

No excuse for poor ai/ai tech article

As a pure materalist, i agree. Memory leads to intuition. I've no evidence of it but it's... hum... an intuition !

No excuse for poor ai/ai tech article

I'm not a specialist, but in Civ IV all can be ordered and calculated. By calculating things, you directly know how much power you will win or loose. In chess, it's not true. There's "nothing" to order. All is about analysis (or, worst, feelings). For sure, loosing the Queen is generally a bad...

    [Return of health] Population pyramid

I agree the mechanism is complex. But, i think implications are quite simple. But, you've maybe right, a simpler thing can certainly exists with Health. I thought about that, too. And i think first it was a problem, too. Finally, i think it can be exactly the contrary. At the beginning of...
