[RD] Daily Graphs and Charts II: Another 10,000 to come.

I don't understand this line of reasoning. I must have missed back story due to joining this thread only on the current page. I'll quit it.

[RD] Daily Graphs and Charts II: Another 10,000 to come.

Sorry, I forgot to click the Quote button -- I was reply to the graph itself, but my reply got sequenced after your comment. I'm only opposing exaggeration, such as conflating data as if it's the same (different countries, eras). Spanish Inquisition was a doctrinal action. Witchcraft like...

    defense treaty

That could be true. It should override. There is enough chaos with "backstabbed you" and false flag "x is planning to invade your city".

Conflating time periods or countries or age cohorts, etc. is a form of exaggeration. Why give credence to such sloppy "evidence"? For example, the list implies that all 10 countries continued to persecute witches up to 1850. That sounds like exaggeration, which seems more like kids telling each...

    Quick Questions and Answers

Presumably the AI is maximizing gold, but when I trade, I try to avoid loss. I also balance some for each AI as "good will". The "mood" indicator of AI being Guarded, Friendly, etc. lists reasons like same ideology, same friends, but I don't think it mentions trade.

    defense treaty

I think the brief discussion in the online manual is clear as far as it goes: if you have a pact and either of you attacks another player, the pact dissolves. Sometimes it seems that if you have a pact with TWO AI, only one will come to your aid, which then dissolves all pacts. Other times...

Cargo ships produce more revenue than caravans.

I would say definitely true, but we should wait to here from someone who plays Arabia on Pangea. It might be simply the fact that ships have greater range, and cargo "value" depends partially on distance. A really far caravan could equal a cargo ship?

How can I tell how long until my f*g current peace treaty expires? (Yes I forgot to count.)

Try Notifications -- scroll thru the list to see when you stopped the war. Then count forward from that date.

Incoming trade could also be a factor -- other player's caravan/ship destroyed by barbarians or enemy AI.

Global Average? Give me a break. Read some of this about the Tambora eruption in 1816: https://www.geography.unibe.ch/services/geographica_bernensia/online_publications/gb2016g9001/index_eng.html Global land temperature average dropped only about 1.5 C but some regions had devastating effects...

Pretty dumb actually. Conflating 1300 and 1800? Seriously? Why didn't they read about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchcraft_Act_1735 "Instead of assuming as the earlier laws did that witches were real and had real magical power derived from pacts with Satan, the new law assumed that...

Research - On Being Stuck in Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Promise of Freedom in Historical Games

Generally in civ 5, and to some extent in earlier versions, if you weather an attack, they just give you a city to stop you from taking their capital. Your counter-attack meets very little resistance. So even if you're not going for domination, you still get extra population, etc. from the free...

Loss of infrastructure when city is conquered

Thanks for that but I believe it only works while using Steam. Here's what I get when I drop-down Options:

Very unpleasant experience playing Civ V

Thanks for the tip on full Commerce tree. I think opening Tradition at the outset is a no brainer -- you get a bonus in Culture that makes subsquent Policies come faster in the early game. I usually fill Liberty first to get a free Great Scientist plus extra happiness from linking all my cities...

Question about bugs in Civ 5 The Complete Edition

Cursor doesn't work: wireless mouse? Civ 5 eats a lot of battery power on mine. Cursor freezes. Click the mouse a few times and THEN you get a Disconnected message. Click a few more times and it reconnects. Serious problem is battery <10%. Overwrite: When you save, you're prompted to name the...
