no, it was not.. the book was waaaay better in this case.. mainly due to the 80's level of cinema tech, and lack of transcribing the depth of some of the book to film., in my opinion of course..

actually Star wars, and its sequels and prequels is not considered science fiction... it is under the genre of space fantasy.. And Star Trek walks the line as well, but is more apt to have concepts of the science fiction kind .. but Star Wars is pure Space opera fantasy my man...
