Looks like this is the reason. I did a bunch more testing and found that it's not the HoW that's causing the issue. Even without it, many bulbs that should work per the Science Advisor can't be performed.
I used WB to grant myself Feudalism and Fortification, and Science Advisor says I can...
Dannimal, the science advisor screen says the next techs for a Great Scientist are Fortification and Feudalism, both of which are definitely currently available to research.
So that's only supposed to happen on the first run? For me it takes several minutes every time before I see the loading progress bar, with a 10th gen i5/16GB RAM and game on SSD. Anything I can do to make it load faster?
Sounds great, thanks Leoreth!
My apologies if this has already been reported, but I noted one more minor issue in the 600 AD scenario: The Chinese cities of Hangzhou and Guangzhou both start with Library instead of Taixue. Not only is Library normally impossible for China to build, but its...
Sure. Here's Arabia at 936 AD, you can see the issue when my 2nd Great Scientist makes it to Makkah this turn.
By the way, I did a little more testing on this last night by creating many Great Specialists in Makkah and found that it's not exactly that only the first of each kind can bulb...
Just wanted to mention that in my book this is the greatest Civ experience ever designed and it's pretty much ruined the standard game and even the original RFC mod for me. Beating every UHV on Monarch is a quest I've attempted and reattempted for years, always gleefully starting over when I...
Playing Arabia in 1.16.8, 600 AD start. I built the House of Wisdom in Makkah and settled my first Great Scientist, which successfully bulbs Machinery/Paper. When I go to settle my second great scientist, I find that settling him does not bulb any techs, even though the tech advisor shows that...
You aren't forced to settle in any contested areas. I just loaded up a save from my Monarch UHV run, and I have 10 cities covering every tile on the subcontinent. The only city I have in a contested area is Tanjapuri (the southernmost Tamil city). So in addition to the 2 starting cities and...
Definitely not impossible.
The key tech here is Civil Service so that you can build Khajuraho, a wonder that gives you +100% production for your temples. Civil Service is fairly high up on the tech tree, and your production isn't so great, so it may be tight to get Khajuraho done in time...
Hey guys, I'm noticing Babylonia's UP doesn't work. I used the Oracle to bulb Code of Laws hoping for that juicy bonus in my capital, but there doesn't seem to be any bonus. Boo....
Almost OP is just what I was going for... the competing options (i.e. slavery) are almost OP. So would Serfdom have to be for people to use it.
Why would +1 Hammer farms make you want to transition out of SE? I'd think it would make running it even more attractive.
The other thought that...
Is there any way to make obsolete world wonders not count for the wonder limits? 5 world wonders is really paltry, and makes a lot of wonders not worth building in a non-terrible city (i.e.) the oracle. I could maybe forgive this if obsolete wonders didn't count towards the total, but it's...
I don't see the problem... with fishing you have the inside track on being first to sailing for a free galley, which can be pretty helpful early on. Also fish is probably the best food resource..
