Hi Seraiel, looking at this screenshot it makes me realize there's something I don't understand about hiring specialists. In that case the city size is 14 but it can hire 16 specialists while working 12 tiles, how does it all add up? I thought each hired specialist means sacrificing a workable tile?
He he I started a new game last night with a random leader and coinciently I am Shaka this time. ;)
Very lucky start as well with 2 gold mines + corn, I had enough time to research basic techs + bronze working (of course no copper for me) and I was still the first to get writing, even got...
Once again Seraiel I learn something new from you, I didn't know gifted cities could not be gained back from culture, CIV developers thought of everything!
I have a save of this game where I was playing Kublai Khan so I will give it a try. Also lesson learned about not scouting aggressive...
You guys are right building a settler and gifting the city sounds like a better option. Would that be suicidal to gift a city very close to a capital hoping to get it back eventually from culture, or stick to creating it in the crappiest location you can find?
Yes having to build defensive units instead of settlers is a huge waste of hammers but in that specific case it's either that or die a horrible death. I'm just curious how experienced Deity players would handle a scenario like that.
Thanks to you guys within a few weeks I went from a player barely winning on Noble to totally dominate Monarch so even though I'm not ready for it yet I've started to play all my games on Deity, very challenging and fun!
A typical game would be the classic Pangaea map on normal speed, no huts...
Ah yes I was looking forward to this, a big thank you to you Seraiel! :goodjob:
That will take a while before I can master all those new tricks I wasn't even aware of, I will certainly come up with questions as I play. Thanks again for this invaluable source of information really appreciated!
Thanks Pangaea for clarifying that up! There's an old thread on the forum about Wonder Economy and the definition is "The basic concept of Wonder Economy is selling unfinished wonder to fuel a 100% tech rate in early game", I guess it's misleading.
Nevertheless failgold is a great tip as...
In a recent game on Monarch I took a chance on building the Stonehenge and big surprise, the AI finishes it 1 turn before I do.
I wasn't expecting that but I got a lot of gold for compensation. I was disappointed at first but then I realized I now had plenty gold to fuel my...
Thanks for the link Pob that's even more complex than I thought.
To summarize this from what I understand, defensive bonuses don't apply to an attacking unit and offensive bonuses don't apply to a defending unit. That answers my original question, an attacking unit doesn't get the terrain...
