Does this then mean that if the barbarians on continent A have a city next to iron the barbarians on continent B can spawn swordsmen out of the fog of war?
If so:
Do you advise players to attack and destroy barb cities located near strategic resources (metal, horses) to counter the spawning...
Legends of Revolution is a very good mod. I play it with Revolutions turned off and enjoy the other expanded features and UI. Realism Invictus is another very good mod. Both of these mods are pretty bug-free which is a huge bonus.
I was under the strong impression, possibly wrong, that barbarians could build units independent of any existing resources, let alone improved (mined) metals, (corralled) horses, etc.
Using Guided Missiles to soften up naval units is very effective. Having a few in your forward cities can make a big difference when the AI sends a SoD your way.

153 turns into a game (LoR mod, Huge, Marathon, Noble, Greeks) I am tempted to quit and start over.
I bee-lined to Bronze Working and discovered that the nearest copper was 16 tiles away from Athens (my capital) and on the far side of the Sioux Empire. Without copper (and Hoplites) Greece is...
Some diplo hits have the possibility to go away over time, others do not.
If you declare war on a civ in 3995 BC they will still hold a grudge six thousand years later.
I play Legends of Revolutions mod and my favorite unit is the Viet Cong (squad infantry). They have a movement factor of 2 which makes them really powerful. Even after you start to build tanks the Viet Cong have the same movement range so they remain useful.
You can attempt to out-finesse your opponents through diplomacy, or hope that they are too busy fighting each other to attack you, but if you don't maintain military parity your civ becomes a target.
If you let your relative strength fall too low your neighbors *will* attack you, even when...
Situationally muskets can be useful. If, for instance, you don't have horses, or copper, or iron. This has actually happened to me. In that scenario muskets are highly desirable. If you can survive long enough to build them, that is.
