I thought this map type was great, especially in combination with the Shoshone. There was more sense in discovering the world and more surprises than in a normal continents game.

Really enjoyed this map. Greece 2 was a great idea, working as a stiff competitior for city state favours, which were important in the power balance. Happy to choose patronage after honour.

Thanks for a very good map! However, I abandoned the game on turn 230, unable to reach a good finish date. Trading blows with Attila made the game drag on too much in medieval/rennaissance.

For the record, I agree. I estimate that I could win one random deity game in about 15-30. The highly imprecise number comes from the fact that I’ve rarely tried some of the map types, except in GOTM.

The current GOTM pause highlights the loneliness of the single player. As I start up a game with the morning coffee, the generated map is discovered by absolutely no one but myself. Thus, GOTM friends are important friends.

I replayed this game, but going for culture instead and ended up with a turn 208 victory. Culture from pastures was a great pantheon in this attempt. I got Petra in the same location where I tried to get it last time. The biggest mistake was missing Colossus, but you can’t have everything...

Valid point, but then you’d have to increase the range of mounted units and armoured units for them to make a difference, which could make AI movements quite unpredictable.
