Funnily enough I've just completed a quick game with absolutely no slowdowns! Haven't changed anything but no slowdowns this time. Wierd. Thanks for your help - if I see any laginess in future, I'll upgrade to the latest drivers, bypassing my OEM's restrictions.

Thanks, Ori. Attempts to auto-upgrade suggest there's no more recent drivers. I've posted on the HP support forum in the hope that someone can prove me wrong. Just in case that's not productive, any other thoguhts?

I've installed BTS on my newish laptop and patched up to the latest version. As far as I can see, all drivers are up to date. I'm running as Administrator. I'm experiencing the intermittent laginess even at game start. All of the other similar threads I've seen mention NVidia cards but...
